Art for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of Gothic Funk.
What we observe is not Gothic Funk itself, but art exposed to our post-postmodern method of questioning.
Art not coupled with a movement will never get any bigger than the artist who originated it.
As soon as a worldview is complete it dies in art.
The Paramanu Pentaquark is like Ann Radcliffe and The Electrifying Mojo are stuck in an elevator with only candlelight and a sequencer to keep them company.
I would like to dedicate this issue to three female Chicago artists, two newly arrived, and one recently departed: Zelda Shane Dubois (b. 11/14/09), daughter of Sean Conley, sounds editor on issues 1 and 2; Mary Adelina Coyne (b. 4/27/10), daughter of Connor Coyne, words editor; and Lois June Lindenau (b. 6/2/31, d. 6/17/10), my grandmother, who left her life in graphic design in Chicago early to instead raise a family in a Michigan farm town, but not without looking back often.
