Paramanu Pentaquark - About

Finding the Paramanu:

An Introduction to the Pentaquark by Sean

I. The first attempt:

The terrifying clarity of sobriety opens a reckoning:

I have lost myself in the wanting of things.

Things beyond me, small and pretty,

Large things, they are the same.

Conservation: a universal force,

Being because it must be.

A thousand years in single moment.

Ambition outstripping ability,

The essence of the happening,

Existence manifest.

II. The second attempt:

“The Paramanu is that base unit of time against which all things are measured. At the same time, it is the manifestation of those things, a purity of being, the finite within the infinite.” - Sir Robert Birkenshire, A Study of the Modes of Explanation, 1897.

There was no such man, and there was no such book. But one can imagine that there had been: some monk of a man hoping beyond hope to find that which he had lost upon the realization that he did not, in fact, know himself. Not as well, anyway, as he thought he had. The ongoing crisis of identity brought on, unbeknownst to most in its throes, by the critical act of searching.

Tension does not equate to conflict. It is said that information cannot be destroyed, and further, that there are limits, real physical limits, to what we can know. That is, information is truly and at once finite and infinite. This is the essence of the Paramanu: all things small and large, literally in the blink of an eye.

III. The Pentaquark:

The Pentaquark is born out of a great energy. It is a small, strange thing, the object of much desire and possessed with a fantastic confusion. It must be, that much is known, for as surely as there are four lights, it simply must be. All the tables and equations tell us so. And yet it is unknown: around us always, with us never. Physics sustains our faith in the search, and we will find this, our finite within the infinite, our Paramanu, our Pentaquark. We must.

The Paramanu Pentaquark is a journal seeking Gothic Funk submissions in three categories: sounds, images, and words. These categories include, but are not limited to, plays, films, essays, poems, prose, photographs, sketches, paintings, videos, cartoons, spoken word, and music.
